Power outage affecting thousands of people in Granger

A power outage is affecting around 3,000 Indiana Michigan Power customers in Granger.

The outage happened around 7:30 a.m. on Friday, April 21.

As a result of the outage, traffic came to a crawl on State Road 23 at Elm, Brick and Fir Roads where the traffic signals went out, according to 95.3 MNC listeners.

Many homes, businesses and at least two schools in the area from Grape to Cherry Road affected, according to the I&M outage map.

Homes and businesses in the area of Adams Road north of the library on Elm Road were affected, as were homes and businesses in the area of Anderson and Bittersweet, according to the I&M outage map.

I&M estimates power will be back on around 12:30 p.m. on Friday, according to the utility.
