Two arrests and two crashes in two separate, yet related incidents in South Bend.

One of the men arrested is accused of stealing a pickup truck and causing multiple injuries after crashing the truck into an SUV, then a house while the SUV rolled over. That all happened at the intersection of Fairview Avenue and High Street Friday afternoon, according to ABC 57.

The truck had been stolen about an hour prior to the crash. The people in the pickup ran from the scene after the crash, but they didn’t get far.

“We have two people in custody. One is facing charges related to stealing the truck. The other was picked up on an unrelated warrant. Our detectives are working to determine if he was involved in anyway with stealing the truck. The two arrested were in the same location at time of arrests,” said Ken Garcia, SBPD.

Two adults and five children, ranging from one to six-years-old were in the SUV at the time of the crash. No word on any injuries.

Not long after that crash, a bystander standing in his driveway watching the crash scene was accidentally hit by his wife with a car. No word on his condition.
