South Bend family claims boy was left in solitary confinement for up to a week

The St. Joseph County Juvenile Justice Center is being sued by the parents of a South Bend boy.

The 11-year-old was allegedly put in solitary confinement. One time, the boy was left there for as long as a week, according to court documents.

The lawsuit claims the confinement prevented him from having contact with his parents and caused serious harm to the boy.

The directors of the St. Joseph County JJC and the county commissioners were also named in the suit.

Great parenting of an 11 year old! Parent should be in jail too! May 2, 2017 at 1:44 pm

I would like to know what put this boy in solitary confinement in the first place? Obviously it can not be any fault of the boy that he is in solitary confinement but it is the fault of his “jailers” so they must be sued no matter what this boy has done. If I were a judge and this case was brought before me I would put the parent and the attorney in jail for a week on contempt charges! Contempt of common sense and of my patience.
