Marshall County traffic stop leads to drug bust in St. Joseph County

Indiana State Police confiscate methamphetamines, a handgun, and other drug paraphernalia when a traffic stop leads to a search warrant.

State troopers initially pulled over the driver near La Paz on Wednesday. With the help of the Plymouth Police Department K-9, authorities located drugs, paraphernalia, and a handgun in the vehicle. Latisha Weaver/Nies-Scott was arrested on the scene, but a search warrant was obtained for her home in St. Joseph County.

Inside the house police found another handgun, further drugs, and additional paraphernalia. Christopher Cavender of Rochester, who was also inside, was arrested for possession of methamphetamines. The St. Joseph County Child Protective Service was called to take custody of a child also in the St. Joseph County home.
