The LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office has deputies responding to the area of the Westville Correctional Center regarding an escaped inmate.

The inmate authorities are searching for is identified as Orville Morris, 35, of Marengo.

Morris has been an inmate of the prison since July 2014. He is serving a three-year sentence for robbery, and in August is to begin serving an additional three-year sentence for burglary. Morris was scheduled to be released in January 2019.

Morris was accounted for during the morning inmate check on Friday, May 5. Officials say he wasn’t seen during the afternoon count around 3:15 p.m.

Out of an abundance of caution, authorities are asking residents who live in the area to be on the lookout for Morris.

Anybody who has information on Morris’s whereabouts is asked to contact the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office at 219-326-7700.
