Report: Notre Dame has had discussions about joining ACC full-time for football

Could Notre Dame be joining the Athletic Coast Conference as a full-fledged member for football?

One expert seems to think it’s a possibility. Tim Brando of Fox Sports is reporting that Notre Dame has had conversations about joining the ACC for football.

This means the Irish would play a full ACC schedule instead of the 5 game per-year agreement that both Notre Dame and the ACC agreed to expand to 2037 last week.

If the Irish join the ACC as a full member, they would be the 15th team in a conference set to launch its own TV network in 2019. The Irish already play a full ACC schedule in basketball and all other sports except hockey. The Notre Dame hockey program is joining the Big Ten starting in 2017-2018.
