One person has died after a fatal crash near Walkerton.

The crash happened at about 12:15 p.m. on Thursday, May 25, on U.S. 6 just west of Walkerton when a pickup truck and semi collided head-on, according to the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office.

The pick-up was driven by Michael Megyeri, 63, of South Bend.

Megyeri was traveling west, crossed the center line and struck the tractor-trailer, according to the sheriff’s office.

The semi driver tried to avoid the pick-up and ended up driving off of the roadway and through a wire fence.

The driver of the semi was not injured.

The investigation into the crash continues.
