Beacon Health warning patients about a possible data breach

If you have been treated at South Bend’s Memorial Hospital or Elkhart General Hospital, your personal information may have been compromised.

Beacon Health is warning patients on their website that a worker accessed records for about 1,200 patients without authorization between March 2014 and March 2017.

An investigation has started, but even in the early going, hospital officials say they haven’t found any evidence of patient information being used illegally.

Beacon is vowing to implement new procedures to keep another incident like this from happening again.
