A crash near I-94 outside of Michigan City turned out to be a whole lot more.

Sheriff’s deputies were called to County Road 950 West where it dead ends on the south side of I-94 early Sunday morning.

A vehicle was discovered to have struck a guardrail, with a Michigan City man zoning in and out of consciousness lying next to the car. The man had severe injuries, and deputies didn’t feel his injuries matched up with a car crash. He’s since been treated and released from IU Methodist in Indianapolis.

Later in the week, 21-year-old Dusty Buren of Michigan City and 25-year-old Dallas Preston of Pulaski County, Indiana were arrested. Both are charged with aggravated battery.
