15-year-old boy sought in connection with shooting death in South Bend

A 15-year-old boy is wanted in connection with the shooting death of a Ligonier man, last month, in South Bend.

The St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit is asking for the public’s help finding Devin Brantley of South Bend. He’s wanted for murder in connection with the May 20 homicide of Felipe Gutierrez, 46, in the Charles Black Recreation Center parking lot, according to the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office.

Brantley also uses the last name Nilli or Brantley-Nilli.

He has possible ties to Detroit, Michigan.

Brantley is described a black, 5’11’ tall and approximately 150 pounds.

Brantley should be considered armed and dangerous. Anybody who comes into contact with him is advised to call call St. Joseph County Metro Homicide at 235-5009 or Michiana Crime Stoppers at 288-STOP.

Police made two previous arrests in the case.

George Lee Watson and Qualan Jones, both 17, were booked into the St. Joseph County Jail last month.

Gutierrez of Ligonier was found shot to death in the driver’s seat of a black BMW in the parking lot near the recreation center.

The shooting took place next to LaSalle Park, where a children’s soccer game was taking place.
