A traffic stop led to a pursuit of a suspect wanted on warrants for vehicle theft and probation violation out of Virginia.
The chase happened late Friday, June 9.
A LaPorte County Sheriff’s deputy stopped the suspect, James Wright, 53, who allegedly gave officers a fake name, then drove off from the scene into St. Joseph County.
The vehicle pursuit reached speeds of up to 100 miles per hour and ended along State Road 2 and Quince Road where the suspect ran off into a wooded area, according to 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at ABC 57.
Wright may have been picked up by an accomplice, the sheriff’s department reported.
Wright is described as a black and in his 50s. He last seen wearing a green t-shirt, ABC 57 reported.
