Man killed in U.P. Mall parking lot during fight, shooting outside of Bar Louie

One person died after a fight led to a shooting in the parking lot outside of Bar Louie at University Park Mall in Mishawaka.

Officers with the Mishawaka Police Department and St. Joseph County Police were called to the mall on the report of a fight around 2:40 a.m. on Sunday, June 11, according to the St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit.

The fight led to a shooting.

The victim, Benito Estevan Bueno, 27, was found lying in the parking lot, suffering from at least one gunshot wound, Metro Homicide stated. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators have been working since their arrival at the mall documenting and gathering evidence. Additionally, several witnesses have been interviewed at the County Metro Homicide Unit.

No arrests had been announced as of 9:30 a.m. on Sunday.

A large police presence was still visible at the mall entrance off of Grape Road early Sunday morning, but mall officials indicted they would be observing regular business hours on Sunday, according to 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at ABC 57.
