Former Notre Dame Coach Bob Elliott passes away

The Notre Dame football family suffered a loss this weekend.

Former Coach Bob Elliott passed away at age 64 Saturday night. He had been admitted to Hospice Care in Iowa City. He had been battling cancer.

Elliott was part of Brian Kelly’s coaching staff for 5 seasons, starting in 2012 as the safeties coach during the team’s undefeated regular season.

He stayed at Notre Dame through last season where he served as Kelly’s special assistant, according to WNDU.

Brian Kelly took to Twitter to grieve Elliott’s passing.

Elliott was hired as a defensive analyst at Nebraska over the winter and remained active with the program until May.

Bob Elliott coached for nine different football programs during his career.
