A shots fired call led to a 19-month-old girl going missing south of South Bend Friday night.

At about 10 p.m. Friday, police responded to a report of shots fired. A suspect, 35-year-old Damion Anderson, was detained, but ABC 57 reports that he told police he threw a 19-month-old child out of his vehicle.

This led to over half a dozen departments searching U.S. 31 between Kern Rd. and S.R. 4, then eventually below the Marshall County line, for the missing child.

Police were able to locate the child’s mother, who told police the child was safely with her.
