A woman is dead after she fell off the parking garage at Memorial Hospital.

Officers were called at about 1 p.m. Thursday after several Memorial Hospital employees rushed to the scene right after it happened.

ABC 57 is reporting that several bystanders tried reviving the woman with CPR, but to no avail. Officers blocked off the area for a while and shielded the victim from curious eyes.

The County Metro Homicide Unit is helping with the investigation, but ABC 57 says officers are treating it as a suicide, partly due to lack of evidence of a struggle.

“We went up checked all of the floors to see if there are any kind of scuff marks or anything to indicate a fight or if she was thrown off, we found nothing like that,” CMHU Commander Tim Corbett said.

An autopsy is scheduled for Friday.

Memorial Hospital released this statement: “Memorial Hospital personnel responded immediately and admirably. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the deceased during this difficult time.”
