Child killed in hit-and-run crash in South Bend, search underway for possible suspect

A 5-year-old child has been killed in a car crash in an apparent hit-and-run on the northwest side of South Bend.

Police say the single-vehicle crash took place at the intersection of O’Brien Street and Vassar Avenue at about 2:45 p.m. First responders found a car on its side when they arrived.

Two others in the vehicle weren’t hurt, according to ABC 57.

South Bend Police released a cell-phone photo of a woman who they are looking for who is allegedly connected to the hit-and-run collision.
