A Connecticut-based audio technology manufacturer has confirmed plans to lay off 650 jobs and close several facilities throughout the world, including one in Elkhart.

A spokesperson for Harman International Industries tells Inside Indiana Business the closures will happen over the next year, without specifically saying how many employees in Indiana will be out of work.

The company, which employs more than 3,700 worldwide, is also closing facilities in Utah, South Jordan and smaller offices throughout Europe.

The company completed the layoffs of more than 100 employees at the same Elkhart facility earlier this year.
