Niles High School student hit by car while walking to school

A Niles High School student was hit by a car Tuesday morning.

It happened at about 7:15 a.m. Tuesday as he was crossing 14th and Eagle Streets. Police say the 16-year-old boy was crossing Eagle St. and heading towards the school when he was hit by a car traveling eastbound.

The driver hasn’t been identified by police, except for the fact that he’s a 46-year-old man.

The student was immediately taken to a local hospital, where his condition is unknown.

Niles police believe speed and alcohol were NOT factors in the crash.
