Emergency responders attended the annual Blue Mass at Notre Dame on Thursday.

The mass was held at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart on the campus, and honored the nearly 500 firefighters, police officers and first responders who died in the terrorist attacks of September 11.

Paul Browne, who was the spokesman for the New York Police Department on that fateful day, was among the speakers.

Firefighters and first responders from across the country attended the mass.
