Boy, 12, seriously injured after being struck by bus in Dowagiac

A 12-year-old boy was seriously injured after he was struck by a bus.

It happened on Friday, Oct. 20, in the 600 block of Riverside Drive in Dowagiac and involved a Dowagiac Dial-A-Ride bus.

Officers with the Dowagiac Police Department arrived and located the victim, who was identified as a Dowagiac Middle School student.

Witnesses told police that the bus was travelling south on Riverside Dr. when the victim ran in front of the bus and was struck.

The victim was transported to Borgess/Lee Memorial Hospital in Dowagiac.  He was later airlifted to Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo.

Dowagiac Police investigated the incident along with the Accident Investigation unit from the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.
