Two suspects in a fatal shooting in South Bend Saturday night have been formally charged.

Antoine Jefferson, 30, is charged with the murder of Everett Lawrence Harper, 65, at the Knights Inn hotel on Lincolnway West just west of Bendix Drive.

He’s being held without bond and faces 65 years in prison if convicted.

Adrian Evans, 31, was also formally charged Monday with assisting a criminal, which is a level 5 felony that carries a maximum of 6 years in jail.

He too is in St. Joseph County Jail on no bond.

Harper was found dead inside one of the rooms Saturday, Oct. 22.

Investigators say he was shot to death in the midst of an argument.
