South Bend man accused of triggering false Amber Alert in Chicago

A South Bend man is in serious trouble for falsely filing a report that his daughter was stolen with his 8-year-old girl inside.

33-year-old Cleadus Taylor called police in Chicago Sunday afternoon with the false report. An Amber Alert was issued for the girl, but the Chicago Tribune reports it didn’t take long for his story to start unraveling.

That’s because his Audi was found in the South Side over three miles from the spot it was reported stolen at. Also, there was no girl in the car, and Chicago Police later determined she was never in danger. This despite Taylor claiming two men jumped in the vehicle while he was at an Aldi grocery store.

He’s charged with a felony count of filing a false police report.
