M-60 in Cassopolis was the scene of two crashes in the space of 24 hours.

Around 9:30 Wednesday morning a driver was ejected from his vehicle after swerving off the road for an unknown reason. The driver, a 41-year-old Marcellus man, and the truck were with American Waste Systems.

The vehicle sustained major damage. Police believe equipment failure led to the driver losing control. He was airlifted to Memorial Hospital in South Bend for treatment.

Shortly before 4 p.m., Cass County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a 2-vehicle crash at the intersection of M-60 and Dailey Road.

A Cassopolis man was headed to Niles when another driver pulled out in front of him. That second driver and the two children in his vehicle were transported to Borgess Lee Memorial Hospital with unspecified injuries.

Officials do not believe drugs or alcohol were factors either crash.
