Shocking child abuse case in Three Oaks ends with four no contest pleas

Downtown Three Oaks ThreeOaksMichigan

Four educators at Three Oaks Elementary School have pleaded no contest in a troubling child abuse case.

The four, ranging from principal to teacher, made their pleas in separate appearances in September and December. In addition to being on probation for the remainder of the school year, each received fines, court costs, and community service.

It’s all a part of a case where a severely emaciated 12-year-old boy was found wandering on the railroad tracks. He weighed 47 pounds, was bruised, dehydrated, and had old cigarette burns on his body. He said he ran away from his parents because they wouldn’t let him eat, and he didn’t think he’d reach his 13th birthday.

The four educators were found to have known about the boy’s condition, but didn’t report anything to authorities, as required by law.
