A Mishawaka man was arrested after leading LaPorte County deputies in a high speed pursuit through two counties, ending with a crash.

Deputies initiated a traffic stop, last night, on U.S. 20 near State Road 39.

The vehicle failed to stop and continued eastbound on 20, reaching speeds well above 100 miles per hour, according to the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office.

The pursuit continued on State Road 2 and reached speeds of 130 miles per hours as it continued into St. Joseph County. When the suspect vehicle attempted a right turn onto Tulip Road in St. Joseph County, the vehicle crashed, the sheriff’s office reported.

The driver then fled on foot.

A police K-9 was unleashed, knocked the suspect down and bit him in the shoulder.

The suspect, Shane Inghels, 35, of Mishawaka faces charges of resisting law enforcement, reckless driving and criminal recklessness, the sheriff’s office reported.

A 20-year-old pregnant woman who was a passenger in the vehicle was taken to Memorial Hospital in South Bend to be checked out.
