Several doctors spoke out against a possible abortion clinic in South Bend this week.

Those nine doctors say that the proposed Whole Woman’s Health clinic would burden the local medical community, saying hospitals would have to treat women who suffer complications from medication-induced abortions.

The doctors were among a group of speakers organized by St. Joseph County Right to Life, who has actively campaigned in the media against the abortion clinic.

The South Bend Tribune reports that no one at this week’s St. Joseph County Council meeting spoke in favor of the clinic.

The area has been without an abortion clinic since Doctor Ulrich Klopfer had his medical license revoked in November 2015.
