Christy Stutzman announces candidacy for Indiana House seat

A former Congressman and state lawmaker’s wife is now running for a spot in the Indiana House that is up for grabs because the person who holds it is retiring.

Christy Stutzman, wife of Marlin Stutzman, is running for Representative Wes Culver’s Elkhart County seat. She made the announcement Saturday and quickly got Culver’s endorsement, according to the Goshen News, who reports that Stutzman is running on a platform of “efficient government, balanced budgets, excellence in education, and the sanctity of every human life.”

Her husband failed in a bid for a US Senate seat in 2016, losing the Republican nomination to Todd Young. After he left office, Marlin Stutzman took the Chief Development Officer post at a Warsaw-based WishBone Medical Inc.
