Numerous slide-offs and crashes are being reported throughout Michiana Wednesday morning as sleet is turning local roads into a sheet of ice.
That includes the U.S. 20 bypass, which is actually closed now in Elkhart County between State Road 19 and County Road 17. A state trooper was actually involved in a crash on the bypass before it was closed.
State Road 19 in Elkhart County is also closing, and deputies there say you should also avoid State Road 119 as well.
As for South Bend, police are asking you to avoid the bypass as well, as officers have responded to at least 10 crashes.
