Man charged with attempted murder, accused of stabbing teenager

A 47-year-old man has been arrested, charged with attempted murder, after police say he stabbed a 17-year-old boy.

It happened on Tuesday, Jan. 23, at a home on Browne Lane in South Bend.

According to the police report, Michael Chaney was at the home to give a ride to a woman, but pulled a knife on the victim and began stabbing the teenager repeatedly.

The victim ran from the home, but collapsed in the snow. He suffered stab wounds to his abdomen and back, cuts to his arms and a collapsed lung.

Chaney is charged with attempted murder, aggravated battery and battery with a deadly weapon.
