While one new Mishawaka restaurant seems to be getting all the hype, another that has opened this week that too is causing a stir.

Metro Diner has opened at its University Crossing location near the soon-to-be-out-of-business Babies R’ Us.

If the name sounds familiar to you, it’s because its Jacksonville, Florida location was featured in a Food Network program hosted by Guy Fieri. Since it appeared in 2010, the Metro Diner franchise has exploded to nearly 50 locations in seven states.

The Mishawaka location joins five others around Indy and one opening in Fort Wayne next month.

Its opening has flown under the radar locally because of Portillo’s, which is open now after a soft opening, with a “grand opening” on Monday.
