Police: Woman arrested for shooting boyfriend during domestic dispute

A woman in Dowagiac was arrested after police say she shot her boyfriend during a domestic dispute.

Officers with the Dowagiac Police Department were called to a home in the 300 block of Pokagon Street around 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday, March 21, after the woman called 911 admitting she fired the gun.

The victim, a 49 year old man from Dowagiac, told police he and his girlfriend had got into an argument and during the argument she got a handgun and shot him twice.

He was taken to Memorial Hospital in South Bend where was treated for non-life threatening injuries to his legs.

The suspect, a 31-year-old Dowagiac resident, was arrested and booked into the Cass County Jail on preliminary charges of assault with intent to commit great bodily harm less than murder.
