South Bend Cubs have busy week before home opener

The South Bend Cubs open up the season this week and they’ll be busy both on the diamond and off it.

The Cubs released their schedule of events for the week. Players arrived from Cubs Spring Training in Arizona on Monday and will have a team breakfast Tuesday morning at PEGGS in downtown South Bend.

Wednesday, the Cubs take on Notre Dame’s men’s baseball team in a charity exhibition game at Four Winds Field.

  • Gates open at 5 p.m.
  • First pitch at 6 p.m.
  • 7-inning game
  • Tickets cost $5. Proceeds to benefit two charities

After opening the season Thursday at West Michigan, the Cubs will then host West Michigan at Saturday’s home opener, with gates opening at 5 p.m.

  • Southern Straight Away to preform pre-game concert
  • First 1,000 fans to receive a South Bend Cubs pint glass and magnet schedule
  • Every inning one fan will win a 50-inch flat screen television.
  • Post-game firework show
