A long-ignored site of a former convenience store in Mishawaka will be nothing but a memory soon.

Family Express has purchased the former Blair Hills Mart at Dragoon Trail and Union Street in Mishawaka. The chain plans on tearing down the neglected building as it builds a new convenience store and gas station.

However, the South Bend Tribune reports that Family Express plans on selling a portion of the Blair Hills Mart property to the city, who plans on expanding the intersection. The city reportedly has sought the land for years so it can add a fifth lane to Union Street and a right-turn lane on Dragoon.

The city will reportedly buy the property from Family Express for $220,000. Demolition on the old property will take place in the next two weeks, with the new store opening within six weeks.
