South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg has returned from a trip to Washington D.C. with Police Chief Scott Ruszkowski.

They attended a conference of city leaders discussing ways to increase the safety of their communities. The Mayor says attending the conference helped them see how the issues faced by South Bend are being dealt with in other parts of the country, and provided some fresh perspectives. School safety and the relationship between police and the community were among the topics at the conference.

Wednesday morning, the mayor visited the 953 MNC studio to talk about what they learned during their visit to D.C.
