A St. Joseph County Councilman has tendered his resigation, effective this coming Monday.

Jamie O’Brien has served on the county council for District C since November 2012. His district covers the northeastern corner of the county, including Granger and parts of northeastern Mishawaka.

The St. Joseph County Republican Party hails him for supporting “efficient government and advocated for good stewartship of taxpayer dollars.” The party also says he’s resigning to care for his elderly parents.

A caucus of precinct chairs in District C will pick his replacement in early May.

Interested applicants can pick up forms at the voter registration office, located in the fourth floor of the County-City building.
