Community leads South Bend police to shots fired suspect

Police arrested a South Bend man after responding to a shots fired report Sunday afternoon.

28-year-old Marvin Tobar is initially charged with criminal recklessness and being a violent felon in possession of a firearm. He allegedly fired shots in the 500 block of Birdsell at about 6:10 p.m. Sunday.

Witnesses directed officers to a home in the 1600 block of West Florence, where Tobar was arrested and a gun was recovered.

South Bend Police credit the community for helping with the arrest.
