The Elkhart River District revitalization plan is coming together.

The goal is to turn the River District into a destination for both residences and businesses. ABC 57 reports that 20,000 people who come to Elkhart to work, then leave the city when they go home.

Thursday night the City Planning team presented their final plan to a packed house at the Lerner Theater. It’s the result of a two-year, $200 million process to turn the River District into a more lively hub for people to work and live.

The revitalization plan includes the new Aquatics Center, the Stonewater At The Riverwalk apartment complex, and more. The goal is also to make all of it pedestrian-friendly.
