Suspected Lowe’s parking lot shooter officially charged

Charges have officially been filed after this week’s shooting at a Lowe’s parking lot in South Bend.

19-year-old Jeziah Easton officially faces five felonies and a misdemeanor, including aggravated battery, which is a level 3 felony charge that carries a maximum 16 year prison term. He also faces:

Count I: Carrying a Handgun without a License a Class A Misdemeanor
Count II: Pointing a Firearm a Level 6 Felony
Count III: Battery By Means of a Deadly Weapon a Level 5 Felony
Count IV: Battery Resulting in Serious a Level 5 Felony
Bodily Injury
Count V: Criminal Recklessness a Level 6 Felony

Tuesday evening, Easton allegedly shot a 38-year-old South Bend man in the leg at the Lowe’s parking lot on Ireland Road. The man suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Easton and a second person left the scene, but were eventually picked up by police. The second person was not charged.

Easton faces 34 years in prison if convicted on all charges.
