Despite his party saying it wasn’t going to seek a recount, St. Joseph County Sheriff candidate Tim Corbett is demanding a recount anyway.

Corbett lost to St. Joseph County Lieutenant Bill Redman Tuesday night by 18 votes. The county clerk and St. Joseph County Democratic Party chairman declared the next day that the vote was final, all votes were counted, and that Redman was the winner.

In a press release, Corbett’s committee says he’s asking for the recount “out of fairness to all voters who participated” in Tuesday’s primary. His committee has hired William Groth, a veteran attorney out of Indianapolis who has experience with recounts in elections.
