The South Bend Community School Corporation is making an effort to put an end to the transportation woes they’ve dealt with in recent years.

Driver shortages, students being dropped off at the wrong spots, and more have given the district a black eye with the public in recent years, and they’re making changes.

This week, the schools met with applicants at a job fair to look for candidates for a number of positions. The district is looking for drivers, aides, mechanics and dispatchers…about 30 employees in total. Some were hired on the spot, and others will hear back soon if they seem like the right kind of candidates.

WNDU reports a number of changes in the transportation department have already taken place, but they say there are more to come if the South Bend Schools are to meet their goal of becoming the state’s top transportation district.
