Summer road construction season in full swing in Michiana

The summer road construction season is in full swing throughout Michiana. Below is a list of some of the major projects currently underway.

IN SOUTH BEND:

(NEW FOR MON) Watch for lane restrictions on westbound Washington due to work being done at the Doubletree Hotel. (ends 6/4)

(NEW) It’s local traffic only in the area of Walsh and Cedar Streets due to curb and sidewalk replacement. (ends 6/8)

(NEW) It’s down to one lane in each direction on the State Road 933 bridge near Leeper Park. Possible delays during the rush hours. (ends 6/30)

Traffic on Cleveland Road is down to one lane in several spots from Portage Road to State Road 23. (end TBA)

Michigan Street is closed between Colfax and LaSalle. (ends 7/6)

Repaving is underway on State Road 23/Prairie Ave. Watch for crews working from Olive Street to Fellows. Expect delays during the rush hours with flaggers directing traffic. (ends 6/15)

Stiver Avenue and Sigerfoos Avenue — closed at South 6th Street and Chippewa Drive. (ends 6/3)

Watch for lane restrictions and closures on Ironwood Drive from Corby to Edison: Ironwood remains closed at Edison. Traffic is down to one lane in each direction at Edison. Expect delays. (ends TBA)

Eddy Street is closed from Napoleon Boulevard to Howard Street for 20 months. St. Vincent Street between Frances Street and Georgiana Avenue is also closed. Detours are set up. (ends late 2019)

IN MISHAWAKA:

(NEW) Watch for lane restrictions on Capital Avenue between Douglas Road and Lincoln Way. Expect delays at times. (ends August 2018)

(NEW) Watch for lane restrictions on N. Main Street between Jefferson Boulevard and Broadway due to improvements being made on the underpass. (ends 6/29)

IN ELKHART:

(NEW FOR MON) Bridge work is getting underway on the Toledo Road ramp to eastbound U.S. 20. Be prepared for stopped traffic, at times, in the work zone. Restrictions on the ramp are expected through early fall. (ends 9/30)

(NEW FOR MON) Hanley Avenue is closed from Peoria to the dead end. Also, Smith Avenue is closed from Peoria to Homer for repaving. (ends late on 6/5)

(NEW FOR MON) Beardsley Ave is closed between Nappanee Street and West Blvd. (ends 6/8)

(NEW) Repaving on the following streets in Elkhart:
Toledo Road, from Indiana Avenue/Goshen Avenue to the East City Limits
Middleton Run Road, from Middlebury Street to Toledo Road
Jeanwood Drive, from County Road 6 to the Toll Road Bridge
Hively Avenue, from Prairie Street to Benham Avenue
Lexington Avenue, from Bypass Road/Old US 20 to Nappanee Street

(NEW) Dr. King Drive is closed between South 6th and Maryland Streets. (ends 6/13)

Resurfacing on State Road 19 means lane restrictions in place between Beardsley Avenue and Magnolia Avenue. Watch for possible stopped traffic in the construction zone at times.(ends TBA)

Jackson Blvd is closed from Waterfall Drive to Jr. Achievement Drive for riverfront re-construction. (ends 7/31/2018)

(NEW FOR WED 6/6) Moffat Lane is closed from Homer to the cul-de-sac for repaving (ends late on 6/6)

(NEW FOR THU 6/7) Malcom Drive is closed. Also, Homer Avenue is closed from the north side of Malcom to the city limits for repaving. (ends 6/8)

IN GOSHEN:

Kercher Road is closed between State Road 15 and Weymouth Blvd. (ends 6/15)

Watch for lane restrictions on State Road 15 near the intersection with 3rd Street (ends 11/2018)

IN BERRIEN COUNTY:

Watch for crews doing bridge repairs on U.S. 12 over the Galien River, near New Buffalo. There are single-lane closures and a temporary traffic signal set up. (ends 6/29)

IN KOSCIUSKO COUNTY:

Resurfacing on U.S. 30 is underway through the towns of Larwill and Pierceton. Traffic will be down to 45 miles per hour and drivers are cautioned to watch for lane restrictions and possible stopped vehicles at times. (ends 9/2018)

IN MARSHALL COUNTY:

(NEW FOR MON) State Road 331 is closed near Bourbon, between U.S. 6 and U.S. 30 this week for repairs. Southbound traffic is detoured to U.S. 6. Northbound traffic is detoured on to State Road 25. (ends 6/8)

U.S. 31 is reduced to one lane in each direction near Plymouth in Marshall County for paving work.

IN PULASKI COUNTY

All lanes of U.S. 421, north of Medaryville, are closed through early September. Crews will be replacing the bridge deck for the structure over a ditch north of County Road 200 North.
