Girl treated for injury after shots fired near Lake and Washington Streets in South Bend

A girl was injured after shots were fired near the intersection of Lake Street and Washington Street in South Bend.

Officers with the South Bend Police Department were called to the area just before 5 a.m. on Sunday, July 15.

While en route, they found a car that had been shot at, nearby at Washington and Kaley Streets. A 16-year-old girl in the car was injured by broken glass.

The girl was treated at the scene according to 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at ABC 57.

A large group of people had gathered when someone began shooting as many as 40 rounds, according to police as reported by ABC 57.

There was no word of any suspect information or arrests as of 8 p.m. on Sunday.
