Man recovering after being shot on North 3rd Street in Elkhart

A 41-year-old man in Elkhart is recovering after being shot.

Officers with the Elkhart Police Department were called around 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 17, to the 300 block of North 3rd Street in regard to sound of gunfire.

When they arrived, they found a 41-year-old man with gunshot wounds to his leg and abdomen. He was taken to Elkhart General Hospital for treatment.

The victim told police that two silver vehicles pulled up and people inside them started firing at him. The only description of the suspects is that they were black men.
