Investigation underway into death of 1-year-old child at Hickory Village Apartments

An arrest has been made after the death of a 1-year-old boy at Hickory Village Apartments in Mishawaka.

Investigators with the St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit were called to the apartment complex around 1:20 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 11, where they found the child unresponsive, according to 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at ABC 57.

The child was taken to St. Joseph Medical Center and then transferred to Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, ABC 57 reported.

A search warrant was issued, WNDU reported.

The arrest made was on an unrelated warrant, WSBT reported.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
