Two shooting incidents under investigation in South Bend

South Bend Police detectives are investigating two separate shootings.

Officers were sent to the 2100 block of West Western Avenue around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 12 after receiving a ShotSpotter alert. While officers were arriving, a 37-year-old man walked in to the hospital with a non-life-threatening wound to the back.

Investigators say the victim may have been involved in an altercation before getting shot while in his vehicle.

Police have not released any suspect information.

Around 6 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 11, officers were sent to the 300 block of N. Lafayette on a report of shots fired. While officers were on scene, a 21-year-old man walked into the hospital with a non-life-threatening wound to the shoulder.

Investigators say the victim got into a fight with two other males before the shots were fired.

The suspects are described as black. One was wearing a light blue shirt and jeans. The other was wearing a dark shirt and white pants.
