Bail has been set at $1 million for a Mishawaka woman accused of fatally injuring a toddler.

Tearra Montgomery, 24, faces three felony charges after the 19 month-old died Saturday morning of a skull fracture and lack of oxygen to the brain.

Montgomery, who lives at Hickory Village Apartments, said she held him face down when he wouldn’t stop crying, after originally claiming she had dropped him. She also admitted to throwing him to the floor.

The South Bend Tribune reports that charged with neglect of a dependent and battery causing death. Both counts carry a sentence of up to 50 years each.

She returns to court on August 29.
