Man shot at Speedway at State Road 23 and Edison Road in South Bend

South Bend Police are investigating a shooting that happened around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 18, at the Speedway gas station at State Road 23 and Edison Road.

Officers spoke to numerous witnesses who say the victim approach a vehicle and then shots were fired. The victim, a 28-year-old man suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the upper chest. He was seen running from the vehicle and was located in the 1500 block of W. Oakhill Drive.

Another person, described as a black male, got out of the vehicle and ran off.

Officers recovered a handgun near the scene.
