The question has been asked again: Will South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg run for President in 2020?
This time, it’s Rolling Stone asking the question. Buttigieg answered by saying he has a lot of decisions to make by the end of the calendar year.
He said he’s focused now on doing everything he can, this fall, to build up state parties.
He also told Rolling Stone the reason people are now talking about city Mayors, such as himself, or Eric Garcetti of Los Angeles and Mitch Landrieu of New Orleans as potential presidents is that voters are aching to see their political leaders actually doing stuff and, with mayors, that’s their whole job, from dealing with potholes to personally interacting with taxpayers.
He’s a veteran, he’s openly gay and he’s reviving a Rust Belt city. Could Indiana mayor Pete Buttigieg topple Trumpism? https://t.co/P0atIqB5ht pic.twitter.com/WIdfdfVLEh
