A Warsaw man is in custody after a police pursuit this week.

A Warsaw Police officer attempted to pull over a man at E 900 N and N Old Rd. 15 on  Monday, Aug. 227. The driver did not have ID on him and allegedly gave the officer a fake name.

The driver ended up driving away from the traffic stop. He went off road into bean fields several times before entering a field at N 425 W and W 800 N where he ditched his vehicle.

Officers found the vehicle, but were unable to find the driver, even after doing a K-9 track.

The same Warsaw Police officer was heading home shortly after 7 a.m. when he saw a man walking near S.R. 15 and 900 N. When the man saw police, he began to run into a cornfield.

Additional officers arrived, drove into the cornfield and located Michael Garman, 34. Paraphernalia was also located nearby.

Garman was arrested on preliminary charges of resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, resisting law enforcement fleeing, reckless driving, driving while suspended prior and possession of paraphernalia.
