Ex-school nurse could avoid jail in missing medicine case

ROCHESTER, Ind. (AP) — A former middle school nurse in northern Indiana has pleaded guilty to stealing students’ medication as part of an agreement that could allow her to avoid jail time in the case.

The Rochester Sentinel reports 35-year-old Ashley N. Beck of Rochester is awaiting sentencing Sept. 26 in Fulton Superior Court after entering the plea last month to a misdemeanor theft charge. The plea agreement calls for Beck to be sentenced to 180 days of probation and face no fine.

Beck was arrested in March following an investigation into missing medication at Rochester Middle School. The medication included a painkiller for a student who had undergone surgery. Other medication was discovered missing that had been prescribed to students at the school.
